The IICORM microphones

December 11th, 2006 by sqb

I thought some site visitors might like to check this out - an “interactive” display of the studio setup and mic selection used on IICORMN. It would have been extremely inappropriate for me to whip out a camera during the recording itself, but afterwards was fair game….

Pretty basic and funky eh? Well, to give you an idea of the anarchy, the studio was in use in the afternoon, so often the setup had to go up from scratch, and in this case they didn’t wait for the mics to be set up neatly. Musicians were already in place and rockin’, so they got mic’d where they sat (including the drums), which meant I couldn’t walk in there afterwards and set up gobos anywhere. Fortunately, the drummers could play dynamically.
